Academic Calendar Committee
The Academic Calendar Committee is chaired by the Executive Director of Enrollment Services. The committee generally meets 1-2 times in the fall (September/October) to set the 5-year planning calendar and the next academic year detail (deadlines/holidays) calendar in accordance to State Board of Education guidelines. If needed, ad hoc meetings may be called earlier in the year to address issues pertinent to the academic calendar. Calendars approved by this committee are forwarded to the President's Cabinet in October/November for their approval and then submitted to the State Board of Education for final approval. Accreditation Committee
This is a new committee that will be preparing our institutional self-study for our NWCCU accreditation visit in October, 2009. The committee will deal with three accreditation standards: Standard One: Institutional Mission and Goals, Planning, and Effectiveness; Standard Six: Governance and Administration; Standard Nine: Institutional Integrity. This will consist of gathering data, documentation, discussion and report writing. This will be meshed with planning and implementation of Charting the Course, our university's strategic plan. By combining the deep scrutiny and contemplation required by the self study with the planning and implementation of CTC, it will employ what is known as "Action Research", which is the gathering of data with the explicit intention to make use of that data as a foundation for implementing changes. ACE By-laws Revision
This committee reviews the by-laws and constitution of the Association of Classified Employees for needed changes on a yearly basis. Suggested revisions must be completed by February and sent to all classified employees for review so that three weeks prior to the General Meeting and Luncheon the changes have been finalized and approved by the Senate. Contact for this committee is the current ACE President who will appoint members.
Affirmative Action Committee
This committee is comprised of classified, faculty, professional and student senate members. The committee reviews complaints received in the Affirmative Action Office. Complaint review sub-committees are formed from the Affirmative Action Committee members on an as needed basis to review and make recommendations on complaints. The Director of Affirmation Action is an ex-officio member of the committee. Two members of this committee are from the ACE Senate. Bookstore Advisory Board
The Bookstore Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Director of the Bookstore concerning policies and operation of the BSU Bookstore. The Board shall provide a forum through which pertinent information, suggestions, and areas of interest can be transmitted between the University, community, and the Bookstore. Bookstore management will provide financial information to the Board for review and recommendation. The Board is composed of five students, three faculty members, one professional staff, one classified staff (ACE Senate), the Director of the Bookstore, the Associate Vice President & Controller of Finance and Administration and the Director of Student Union Activities and Auxiliary Service. BSUAOP Representative
The Association of Classified Employees (ACE) Representative shall be responsible for representing BSUAOP at the monthly ACE meetings and reporting to ACE on the meetings (BSUAOP Bylaws. Article VIII, Section 5-A). The ACE Representative is appointed by the President, with the approval of the Executive Board. The Ace Representative must be a current member of BSUAOP and, if available, a current member of the ACE Executive Board. Appointed committee chairmen shall attend Executive Board meetings but have no voting privileges (BSUAOP Bylaws, Article V, Section 2). Campus Recreation Advisory Board
The Board shall serve as the primary advisory committee to the Director of Campus Recreation in all matters related to the Boise State University Student Recreation Center, its operation and programs. The committee currently meets once a month, usually the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The committee is made up of one representative each from the Alumni Association, Faculty Senate, Professional Staff Association, Association of Classified Employees, Director of Auxiliary Services/Designee, Chair of Kinesiology / Designee, Director of Campus Recreation, Residence Hall Association President, ASBSU President, ASBSU Senate Pro Tem, 2 ASBSU Senators at Large, and 4 students at Large. Children's Center Advisory Board
The purpose of the Advisory Board shall be to cooperatively recommend and advise the Vice President for Student Affairs, Executive Director of Campus Services and the Children's Center Director in the establishment of policies and priorities for the operation of the Children's Center as it relates to the mission. Community Service Committee
This committee develops and promotes activities to encourage all classified staff to become involved in their communities and local organizations. Contact for this committee is the current ACE President who will appoint members.
Cultural Center Advisory Board
This committee meets to discuss Cultural Center issues on campus. The ACE representative will attend monthly Cultural Center Advisory Board meetings. They are eligible to run for chair and co-chair and must miss no more than 2 meetings a year. The contact for this committee is Ro Parker, 426-1391, rparker1@boisestate.edu
Disability Advisory Group
The Disabilities Advisory Group at Boise State University exists to include and represent invested constituencies from across campus to pursue a more comprehensive conversation about accessibility, inclusion, diversity, and people with disabilities. The goal is to enhance physical and programmatic accessibility by advancing education about these issues on campus and by identifying and prioritizing a more systematic and comprehensive understanding of these needs. The advisory group will meet regularly to guide development of campus resources, practices and design to more effectively meet institutional compliance needs for people with disabilities and to lead in our development as an example of excellence in this area. Emeritus Committee
The classified staff status is awarded to retiring or retired classified staff in recognition of their service to Boise State University. The Emeritus Committee provides requesting departments with a "Checklist for Application for Emeritus Status", reviews returned application packets for completeness, ensures appropriate processing of the packet and provides HRS a yearly list of new emeriti for the fall Classified Employee Recognition Luncheon awards. Contact is the ACE President who appoints the member to be in charge of this process.
Employee Issues Committee
This committee develops ways to keep classified employees informed and involved in what their representatives and senators are doing in regards specifically to state employees and generally to the State of Idaho and any changes that might be specific to employees through BSU decisions. Information and direction is obtained in conjunction with the ACE President, information from BSU legislative issues, the legislative session in general, especially in following the Change in Employee Compensation (CEC) Committee of the Legislature, and new and changed BSU policies. The committee develops ways to pass that information on to classified staff and ways in which to entice staff to become and stay involved in areas that affect them. The ACE President appoints committee members and works closely with the committee throughout the year.
Facility Naming Committee
This committee follows guidelines outlined in University Policy BSU 1410-B in making recommendations to the University President for the naming of a University facility or administrative unit which are intended to be permanent in nature. Additionally, this policy also applies to naming rights that are not permanent in nature and come in the form of advertising/sponsorships. Food Service Advisory Board
The Food Service Advisory Board exists to provide feedback to the contract administrators and contract food service provider regarding food service components in the areas of retail food service, catering, resident dining, and concessions. The Committee will provide input into the program and service directions for food service on the BSU campus. The Committee will review food service satisfaction surveys, food service evaluations, and other customer satisfaction data. The Board meets two to three times per semester. General Meeting & Luncheon Committee
This responsibility of this committee is to organize the annual Association of Classified Employees general meeting and luncheon that takes place in April/May of each year. This committee works together with the Outstanding Employee Committee as the nominations and awards are presented at the general meeting. Planning includes menu, room flyer, registration, monies and keynote speaker. The contact for this committee is the ACE President.
Goodwill Fund Raising Committee
This committee raises funds to support the Goodwill Project that was created to assist BSU classified employees whose paychecks are not large enough to cover the cost of food between paydays. It is a voucher system allowing eligible BSU employees to get one or two free meals a week. The Committee encourages donations and markets the program through various communications and fund raising events. The contact for this committee is the ACE President.
Health and Wellness Advisory Board
This committee serves in an advisory capacity to the Wellness Center. It will advise and aid in the implementation of policies and procedures for the Wellness Center and student insurance program. Membership of this committee is comprised of seven students, six Wellness Center employees and one representative each from the Faculty Senate, Professional Senate and ACE Senate. Homecoming Advisory Committee
The committee meets to discuss the fall semester annual homecoming celebration for alumni, students and friends that helps fuel the Bronco spirit by creating fun activities all week long, culminating with a classic WAC football match-up in Bronco Stadium. The committee meets during the summer prior to fall semester. Human Resource Advisory Board
This committee consists of faculty, professional and classified staff and meets to discuss Human Resource issues on campus and impacts the Legislature has had on employees. There are two ACE representatives on this committee. It is recommended by ACE that they be the ACE President and/or Vice-President. They provide input and feedback on personnel policies and Human Resource initiatives. The contact for this committee is Jane Buser, 426-1739, jbuser@boisestate.edu.
Nomination and Election Committee
This committee sends out notices and ballots to all classified staff in March of each year for election of new officers and senate members for ACE. The Past President is the chair of this committee and appoints five classified staff, according to the ACE Bylaws, at the beginning of each year. The contact person for this committee is the Past-President of ACE.
Outstanding Classified Employee Committee
This committee sends out notices for nominations for the Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year award in February of each year. They choose a nomination committee according to procedures for the OCE, which include one faculty, one professional staff, two ACE senators and one ACE senator as Chair of the committee. They review submissions and select the award winner. They work with the General Meeting & Luncheon Committee to present the award during the general meeting held in April. Parking Advisory Committee
This committee meets to discuss parking issues on campus. This committee currently meets once a month on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The contact for this committee is JC Porter, Assistant Director Parking and Transportation 426-2457 jcporter@boisestate.edu
Parking Citation Appeals Review Board
This committee meets to review parking citation appeals and approval/disapproval. The contact for this committee is Karen Toon, karentoon@boisestate.edu,426-5774.
Safety & Security Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Safety and Security Advisory Committee is to identify campus safety and security concerns and provide recommendations to Public Safety to address these concerns. The committee also considers and responds to input from the campus community. The Safety and Security Advisory Committee consists of nine volunteer members representing all campus areas. Membership on the committee is for a minimum term of one year. The Executive Director of Security and Police serves as the committee chairperson. The Safety and Security Advisory Committee meets twice yearly in April and October. Meetings are scheduled for ninety minutes. If security and safety issues dictate, additional meetings may be scheduled. The contact person for this committee is Jon Uda, 426-1304, jonuda@boisestate.edu.
Student Fee Committee
The Student Fee Committee is chaired by the Vice President for Student Affairs and includes the following membership: two faculty representatives, one professional staff representative, one classified employee (ACE Senate) representative, the President and Vice President of ASBSU, and one student representative from Residence Hall Association and one graduate student. In addition the Budget Director, the Associate VP for Undergraduate Studies and the Assistant to the VP for Student Affairs, Special Projects serve as (non-voting, ex-officio) staff to the Committee. The Committee recommends to the Executive Budget Committee (EBC), (1) the appropriated budget request; (2) the allocation of the appropriated budget; (3) any reduction or adjustments in the appropriated budget; (4) general student fee increases. Meetings are determined each cycle, meets more frequently in the spring and is dependent upong the timeline established by the State Board of Education. Women's Center Advisory Board
This committee meets to discuss Women's Center issues on campus. The Women's Center provides an environment that is welcoming and safe to all university and community members. Its primary mission is to support women students in their personal, academic and career development. The Advisory Board cooperatively recommends and advises the Vice President for Student Affairs, Director of Student Development and the Women's Center Coordinator in the establishment of policies and priorities for the operation of the Women's Center as it relates to its mission. The board consists of an odd number of members which include two faculty members, one classified employee (ACE Senate member), one professional staff, three at-large positions for community organizations which includes one HERSWest representative, three students at-large (one of which is an ASBSU appointee) and one Housing representative.
