Upon application for admission, students select one of the following
areas of emphasis: Alternative Media, Art Metals, Ceramics, Drawing/Painting,
Photography, Printmaking, or Sculpture. The program encourages innovative
work within these specific disciplines, as well as work that crosses traditional
disciplinary boundaries. MFA students have the opportunity to work closely
with faculty in their area of emphasis and throughout the department.
This flexibility allows for greater cross-pollination of ideas and a stronger
understanding of contemporary art practices and discourse. At the same
time, students who work primarily in a specific medium have the resources
to hone their knowledge of the debates and professional practices particular
to that medium. |
