Pre-Architecture

The Pre-Architecture program at Boise State University is designed to correspond with the freshman and sophomore years of schools offering professional degree programs in Architecture. The 2-year Pre-Architecture program prepares students for applying and transferring into the junior, or 3rd year, of a 5-year Bachelor of Architecture program. The program can also be utilized to prepare students with degrees from other fields for applying to graduate schools of architecture (Master of Architecture I, typically a 3-1/2 year program). Students should consult individual schools for specific application and transfer requirements.

Architecture is both art and science. Boise State University Pre-Architecture students are introduced to architecture as a profession as well as an artistic, technical and critical discourse. Course work within the program introduces the student to architecture culture through architectural graphics, design, history, and materials and methods of construction. Additionally, art history, drawing, 2 and 3 dimensional design, English composition, calculus and physics courses are required.
