Getting Started as a Bicycle Commuter: Route 3

Eagle - Northwest Boise - Campus

6:30 a.m.
Riders convene at Reed Cycle

6:40 a.m.
depart turning eastward onto State Street
at Edgewood, left turn

continue onto Hill Road
Cross Highway 55
Cross Horseshoe Bend Road

Continue on Hill Road Parkway.
Stay right, continue on Hill Road
Stay right, continue on Gary Lane
at Gillis Drive, left turn

At this point, bicyclists can choose to catch Valley Ride Bus #10, Hill Road/Maple Grove, with service to downtown Boise. Bus departs from Gary and Gillis at about 7:06 a.m., reaching downtown Boise at 7:35 a.m.

Remaining cyclists, follow Gillis and Limelight Drive to Tobi Drive, continuing to Pierce Park.
at Pierce Park, right turn
at Castle Drive, left turn
re-join Hill Road
at Collister Drive, right turn
cross State Street, follow Greenbelt access markers to Greenbelt
at Greenbelt, turn upstream
continue to Friendship Bridge, arriving on campus about 7:50 a.m.

Return Options:

  1. Arrange to meet friends at Memorial Plaza and bicycle home together.
  2. Catch Valley Ride bus route #44, the Highway 44 Express, which departs from the intersection of University and Joyce at 5:10 p.m. Deboard the bus either at the intersection of State and Horseshoe Bend Road, or at the Eagle Riverside Park and Ride.
  3. Bike downtown to Valley Ride Bus Zone 2 (Main at 8th). Catch bus #10, Hill Road/Maple Grove, with departures hourly from 5:45 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. Deboard the bus at the intersection of Gary and Gillis, then backtrack along the morning bike route to Eagle.
