Computing, Data and Visualization

Advanced computing, interconnectivity, and big data have opened new frontiers for virtually unfettered progress in modeling and visualization of complex systems. The potential for advanced energy science and technology pushes the limits of real-time analytics, data complexity, and the ability to manage heterogenous and multiscale data sources. With expansive resources—including dual Computer Assisted Virtual Environments (CAVEs), multiple supercomputers, and leading expertise—CAES can harness these assets to benefit researchers, educators, students, and innovators across all Focus Areas.

    Dr. Catherine Olschanowsky

    Assistant Professor

    Dr. Catherine (Cathie) Olschanowsky is currently faculty in the computer science department at Boise State University. She was previously a research professor in the Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering Departments at CSU. Her research area is high performance computing application performance. Dr. Olschanowsky joined the CFD & Propulsion Laboratory in July 2013, and her work involved using the Rose compiler to customize CFD applications to complex computer architectures. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of California at San Diego in the Performance Modeling and Characterization Laboratory. Dr. Olschanowsky also previously worked as a research scientist and software engineer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center.
