Effective Counsel

The 6th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides the right to counsel, but the right to appointed counsel for indigent defendants has been a recent development. The U.S. Constitution does not require the State to provide effective counsel or representation for habeas corpus review. This podcast presents a brief overview of some of the issues that indigent capital defendants face. (Length 11:19)
