Concurrent Enrollment Faculty Handbook

Introduction

The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) allows Boise State University and local high schools to work together to offer university courses to high school students so they can get an early start on their university career at a low cost. The program’s success is based on the partnership between qualified high school instructors and the various academic departments. Students and instructors use Boise State curriculum, texts and grading scales. When necessary, university texts, lab supplies and equipment are provided to the high school classrooms to ensure a true university educational experience. Our goal is to offer rigorous general education courses which can be applied to any degree a student chooses. We are able to accomplish this because of our faculty’s high standards.

Several instructors report that enrolling in a concurrent enrollment class for dual credit often changes student’s perspective on school. Students are able to build their self-confidence by taking the courses in the familiarity of their high school and then setting the attainable goal of going on to a college or university upon graduating from high school.

BroncoWeb — Employee Self–Service Account

BroncoWeb is the Boise State University system that allows employees to view their personal and employment information, accessible via the Internet. Human Resources will send you a letter about your Employee Self-Service Account when you are hired. Please make sure to file this document as you will need it for grade entries. Concurrent Enrollment will send a verification form with your assigned Login ID/Username and Employee ID with a copy for your files as well.

The Login ID/Username you will need to access BroncoWeb is usually your first and last name together with no spaces unless otherwise notified — BroncoWeb ID/Username: FirstNameLastName

When you receive your self-service account, you will need to set your password by going to the BroncoWeb Home page on the web.

To set your password online, you will need to do the following:

  • Go to http://broncoweb.boisestate.edu
  • Click “Log in to BroncoWeb”
  • Click the "Set my New Password" Link
  • Enter your BroncoWeb Login ID/Username
  • Employee date of birth
  • Social Security Number

Choose a password that is easy for you to remember, but hard for others to guess. If you forget your password, you may reset it using the same information. If you are uncomfortable with this feature you may deactivate it, but if you do so and later forget your password, you will need to call the Boise State Help Desk at (208) 426-4357 to have the password reset. Please be aware that there may be a delay in resetting the password.

Grade Changes

Faculty can assign a grade of ‘I’ – for incomplete- if the student’s work has been satisfactory up to the last three weeks of the semester or extenuating circumstances make it impossible for the student to complete the course before the end of the semester.

The instructor and student must create a contract stipulating the work the student must accomplish and the time in which it must be completed for the student to receive the new grade. The contract time may not exceed one year.

Once the work has been completed, the instructor must contact the Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator through email at klakatos@boisestate.edu with the new grade. If no grade other than incomplete has been assigned one year after the original incomplete, the grade of ‘F’ will automatically be assigned.

Campus Visits

We welcome and encourage any Concurrent Enrollment class to visit the main campus. Concurrent Enrollment students are considered Boise State students and getting exposure to the university environment is a great way to feel part of the Boise State community. Come to campus and Concurrent Enrollment will provide lunch and show each class various departments here on campus.
