The following questions and answers will provide students with more information about Boise State University's Concurrent Enrollment program.

Do Concurrent Enrollment students qualify for federal financial aid?

Concurrent Enrollment students do not qualify for financial aid because the federal government requires students to have received a high school diploma or its equivalent to be eligible for federal grants or loans.

How do I register for Concurrent Enrollment courses?

Application/registration instructions can be found at the How to Apply for Concurrent Enrollment page.
After going through the steps on that page, take the Concurrent Enrollment Program registration form to your teacher along with a check or money order made out to Boise State University. The cost of the program is $65 per credit (example: a 4-credit biology course is $260).

What are the differences between the Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) and the Advanced Placement Program (AP)?

Boise State's Concurrent Enrollment Program refers to classes offered to high school students for both high school and Boise State credit. Students participating in concurrent enrollment classes receive college credit for specific courses offered at their high school.

Concurrent Enrollment provides the student with a Boise State transcript with an actual letter grade for the course based on work completed during the duration of the class. Studnets can request that their transcript be sent the college or university of their choice. Credits are transferable.

The Advanced Placement Program provides college credit based on performance on a cumulative exam administered in May. For exam scores of 3, 4 or 5 some universities award crerdit or waive a specific course. For some courses with labs, the lecture portion of the course is all a college can accept. For AP courses, no course grade or transcript is generated.

Can a student enroll in a Concurrent Enrollment course and also take the AP test exam?

Yes. Once the course is completed, students may choose to either have their Boise State transcript transferred, or may request that AP scores be sent to their chosen college. Students attending Boise State University after graduating will already have the Concurrent Enrollment course listed on their transcript.

What if I change my mind after registering for Concurrent Enrollment?

If you decide to withdraw from the program, you must officially drop the class by calling the Concurrent Enrollment Coordinator (208) 426-3294 by the withdrawal deadline and request that you be withdrawn. Please note that the high school and collegiate registrations are separate.

Withdrawal deadline for Fall 2011 classes is Friday, October 28, 2011
Withdrawal deadline for Spring 2012 classes is Friday, March 16, 2012.

NOTE: Failure to notify the coordinator will mean you will remain registered at the university for the course; should you not complete the course, a failing grade will be posted to your transcript and you will still be responsible for paying the cost of the course.

Are Concurrent Enrollment credits transferable to other colleges and universities?

Boise State's Concurrent Enrollment credits are accepted by all Idaho institutions of higher education.

Boise State University is accredited by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges; therefore most other colleges and universities will accept Boise State credits. However, it is your responsibility to consult with the school(s) you wish to attend regarding the transferability of any university credits earned.

To request official transcripts: Once grades are submitted, you can request official transcripts. Students can request official transcripts throught their BroncoWeb account or download the Transcript Order Form from the Registrar's Forms for Students web page and follow its instructions. There is a $10 fee for official transcripts.

If I want to attend Boise State after graduating from high school, what do I need to do?

You will need to submit a regular application for admission along with your official ACT or SAT Test scores and high school transcript. There is a one-time, nonrefundable $50 application fee. Send the materials to the Boise State Office of Admissions.

Submit all materials by May 15, to be automatically considered for scholarships.

How do high school instructors qualify for teaching courses in Boise State's Concurrent Enrollment Program?

High school instructors must have a Master's degree or 18 graduate credit hours in their respective fields or commensurate experience.
