The Reformation
Introduction to Section One
Section One is where we get introduced to the religious controversies that form the heart of the Reformation. We will look at the four major streams of reform—Lutheranism, Calvinism, Anabaptism, and Catholicism—. In order to understand those, we will be learning quite a lot of new vocabulary and concepts, from familiar ones like "bishop" or "confession" to ones that are probably unfamiliar, such as "consubstantiation" or "sola scriptura". Understanding these will be vital, for they form the very language of the Reformation.
