Introduction to Section Three

The theme in Tracy is "communities" and that's a pretty good topic to focus on. A good deal of work in the past twenty years or so has investigated the interplay between the Reformation and different sorts of communities--peasants, burghers, guilds, towns, and so on. Here we will have a chance to look more closely at these communities, to try to understand them in their own terms and to look at how they related to the Reformation.
