The Geospatial Research Facility at Boise State University offers a variety of GIS courses from beginning to intermediate. All classes are located in the Math/Geosciences building on the Boise State campus, in room 135, on the dates listed below. See individual courses for hours. Cost is $585 (2-day courses) or $805 (3-day courses), including the book and hassle-free parking!
This course teaches the range of functionality available in the software and the essential tools for visualizing, creating, managing, and analyzing geographic data. The hands-on course exercises emphasize practice with ArcMap and ArcCatalog (the primary applications included with ArcGIS desktop software) to perform common GIS tasks and workflows. The tools for creating and managing geographic data, displaying data on maps in different ways, and combining and analyzing data to discover patterns and relationships are highlighted, and you learn how ArcGIS desktop provides a complete GIS software solution. By the end of the course, you will be prepared to start working with the software on your own. ESRI authorized course.

ArcGIS Desktop III builds on the skills and knowledge taught in ArcGIS Desktop II. This course shows how to apply ArcGIS tools in a workflow. Topics include: migrating data to a geodatabase; geodatabase behavior; editing GIS data; aligning spatial data; managing geoprocessing tools and settings; analyzing GIS data; using Model Builder; GIS analysis projects. Prerequisites: Students should complete ArcGIS Desktop II Tools and Functionality or Learning ArcGIS Desktop or have equivalent knowledge.

An introduction to geodatabase concepts in ArcGIS. The course covers migrating existing data into a geodatabase, adding behaviors to features, creating relationships between objects and creating and editing features in a geodatabase. Prerequisite: ArcGIS Desktop II Tools and Functionality or experience in ArcGIS software.

This two-day course is an introduction to Internet Map Server (IMS). The course will introduce the participant to Internet map authoring, web site design and publishing using the ArcIMS manager. ESRI authorized course.
April 8, 9, 2010, 9am-5pm
An introduction to customizing ArcGIS using ArcObjects. This course will cover building custom applications; and introduction to basic coding; and creating subroutines and functions using VBA. The introduction to ArcObjects will include programming with interfaces, navigating object model diagrams, and using ArcObjects in ArcGIS applications.
