What is included in the
Division of Extended Studies?
In conjunction with the academic departments, Extended Studies is responsible
for scheduling, delivery and support of academic classes at other campus
sites (Boise State West, Canyon County Center, Gowen Field, Mountain Home, and Twin Falls), Workshops, the Summer Program, Distance Education classes, Weekend University, Study Tours, Concurrent
Enrollment (for high school students), Osher Institute (for adults), and Noncredit programs (Professional Development and Personal Enrichment) for community residents. For detailed

Are the classes made available
by Extended Studies the same as or different from classes on the Boise
campus?
The content is the same. The credits are the same. The fees are the same.
Everything about them is the same. They are just taught in more flexible
time frames and formats and at different locations.

Can a student take classes
on several campuses at once? (e.g., electronic campus, Mountain Home AFB,
Boise campus)
Yes. Many students, both part-time and full-time, take classes at multiple
campuses and/or through multiple instructional methods, e.g., in-person
and online.

My work schedule doesn’t allow me to take classes during
the day. Can I still get a degree?
Yes. A student may earn most degrees by taking evening classes.
You may have to plan your schedule carefully, as many classes are offered
more frequently during daytime hours and only occasionally in the evening.
In addition, many core classes can be completed online.

Is the admission process
different for classes at the other campuses?
No, the process is the same. You can apply for
undergraduate admission on line through the BroncoWeb home page at http://broncoweb.boisestate.edu/
or for graduate admission at www.boisestate.edu/gradcoll/
or you can visit site coordinators at the following campus locations:
Canyon County, Gowen Field, Mountain Home, Twin Falls and Distance Education
Student Services in the Extended Studies Office. Students taking only
graduate workshops can be admitted by the Extended Studies office at 426-1709.

How do I register for classes at the other campuses?
Registration for Boise State classes is now done on BroncoWeb with the
exception of Concurrent Enrollment, teacher inservice (professional education) and
noncredit classes. Once you have been admitted, have reached your registration
appointment date and time, have received your username and have set your
password, you are ready to register. Go to BroncoWeb
and follow the prompts to register.

What about workshops?
Workshops are short classes, often only two days long, on topics of special
interest. Most are offered for one credit. They are held throughout the
semester. You can register for workshops anytime before they start on
BroncoWeb
. To guarantee a seat, you should register as soon as possible. If you
have difficulty registering for a workshop on BroncoWeb, call the Extended
Studies central registration unit at 426-1709 for assistance.

What about the fees?
Fees for classes offered through Extended Studies are the standard undergraduate
and graduate course fees. See http://finad.boisestate.edu/sfsfees.htm
for current fee schedule. Exceptions are some courses and workshops which
have additional minor fees, the online masters degree programs in Instructional
Performance Technology and Educational Technology and some other technologically
mediated classes.

Can I use my financial aid or my veterans’ benefits for
classes at the other campuses?
If you are eligible for financial aid or veterans’ benefits, they
apply to all Boise State classes, regardless of location or instructional
method. Contact the Veterans’ Services office at 426-3744.

When are fees due and will I get a bill?
The fee payment deadline is the week before the beginning of each semester
or each summer session. If the fee payment deadline has passed when you
register for a class or workshop, those fees are due at the time of registration.
You will not receive a bill in the mail. Look online in your BroncoWeb
account to see your bill.

Where can I pay my fees for classes at other campus locations?
You can pay your fees via mail, online through BroncoWeb
with a credit card or in person at the following locations: Boise Campus,
Boise State West, Canyon County Center, Gowen Field, Mountain Home, Twin Falls.

Who teaches classes at the other campus sites?
Both full-time faculty and part-time adjunct faculty, approved by the
academic departments, teach classes offered through Extended Studies and
on the Boise Campus.

How do I get in touch with professors
for classes at other campus sites?
Some of these classes are taught by full-time faculty. Their names and
numbers are in the Boise State directory. Other classes are taught by
part-time adjunct instructors whose phone numbers may not be readily available.
Contact the site coordinator for information about availability of instructor
phone numbers and/or email addresses.

Where do I buy books for classes at
other campuses?
Books for Boise State West and Canyon County classes are available at the bookstore at the
Canyon County Center. Books for classes at Gowen Field, Mountain Home
and Twin Falls are sold on site. Contact the site coordinator for more
information. All textbooks can also be ordered online from www.boisestatebooks.com
for a small delivery charge.

Is advising available at other campus
locations?
Yes, academic advising is available at Boise State West, Canyon County Center, Gowen Field, Mountain
Home, Twin Falls and Distance Education Student Services.
In addition,
the Academic Advising Center on the Boise campus can advise you for classes
at both Boise and other campus locations. Check the web-based advising
resources online through BroncoWeb

Can I take classes during the summer?
Yes. The university’s summer program offers
a wide array of regular courses,
workshops, special institutes and conferences, in one 3-week, two 5-week,
two 8-
week and one 10-week session. See the Extended

Are there teaching certification classes at
the University?
People with certification and recertification questions
should contact the (1) State Department of Education and (2) the College
of Education to figure out what they need to take. Extended Studies offers
a number of workshops during the year and especially during the summer,
including a number of computer-based multimedia and online courses, that
teachers use for recertification. However, we do not advise teachers about
which ones they need. Extended Studies also provides professional education/inservice
credit for teachers for workshops taken in the school districts and out
in the community.

Can a high school student take classes for
academic credit?
Yes. Boise State offers academically advanced high
school students two options for taking college level courses while still
in high school. The Concurrent Enrollment Program offers students
the opportunity to receive both high school and college credit for specific
college level classes offered at their high school. See the Concurrent Enrollment web page for more information.
The dual enrollment program provides the opportunity for high school students
to enroll in classes at Boise State’s campus locations. See the
