Welcome!
Boise State offers education courses and in-service
training for teachers and educators everywhere. Through arrangements with
Boise State University, teachers enrolled in some of these courses are
able to receive professional education credit, which satisfies certification/recertification
requirements through the State Department of Education, or fulfills salary
level requirements through individual school districts. Some courses are
offered within special conferences either on or off the Boise State campus.
We also offer some in-service courses during the summer. The cost is approximately
one-third the cost of an academic credit.

Boise State Writing
Project
Invitational Summer Institute
The Boise State University Writing Project is part of the National Writing Project network, now in its 34th year.
The National Writing Project, known as the NWP, has been widely recognized
as the most successful grassroots movement for school and instructional
change in the history of American education. The network consists of over
250 international sites and includes an international corps of exemplary
teachers and teacher leaders. These teachers are active in their own schools
and at the regional and national levels in providing in-servicing, policy
advice, teacher-consulting, teacher research and various other services
to our profession.
How can I become a National Writing Project Fellow? Nominations
and applications are accepted through mid-March. Contact Jeff Wilhelm
at jwilhelm@boisestate.edu
or 208-426-1199, or Katie Quick at 208-426-3426 to receive nomination
and application papers.
What are the Benefits?
Institute participants will earn 6 graduate credits (which will count
towards most graduate programs of study at BSU). The tuition and fees
will be approximately $675 (after initial scholarship).
Fellows will learn the latest about literacy and pedagogy in a warm, fun,
and supportive atmosphere.
Teachers will all receive an initial scholarship of $600. We also have
some additional scholarships and housing allowances.
Institute participants typically are also offered various opportunities
to provide services for payment after the conclusion of the Institute.
Many fellows have the opportunity to travel nationally and work on various
national education initiatives. Above all, the institute is an incredibly
fun, very friendly, and supportive atmosphere in which to learn.
