Facilities and Services During Summer


The following facilities and services are all available to help you make your summer count at Boise State!


• Albertsons library

The Web site library.boisestate.edu has links to many information resources, including the library catalog, databases, online journals, and reference sources. Distance education students can find information on using the Library to obtain materials to support their coursework. Most of the online resources are available for student access off campus—you’ll need your BroncoWeb username and password to use these online sources.

• Boise State Bookstore

You can purchase textbooks from the Boise State Bookstore, located in the Student Union Building or via the Internet at the www.boisestatebooks.com Web site.

The Boise State West Campus Bookstore carries textbooks for all courses in Canyon County. Call (208) 562-5034 for store hours.

• The SUB

The SUB, located at 1700 University Drive, is open during the summer. In addition to containing numerous lounges and dining areas, the SUB houses an art gallery, the Cultural Center, the Boise State Bookstore, offices for ASBSU student government, the Student Programs Board, Volunteer Services Board, and over 200 student organizations.

• Health, Wellness & Counseling services

Summer students may seek medical services at the Health & Wellness Center, located at 2103 University Drive. Summer hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mon., Wed.–Fri. 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tues.

Counseling Services is located on the first floor of Taylor Hall. Summer hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mon., Wed.–Fri. 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tues.

• Summer Childcare

The Children’s Center, 1830 Beacon, offers childcare from May 19 to August 15 for infants through 5 years of age, on a limited space-available basis. Financial assistance is available.

The Center operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm. For more information and rates, please call (208) 426-4404 or visit childrenscenter.boisestate.edu.

• Summer Student Housing

Housing is only available currently to students enrolled in summer classes or those fulfilling an academic requirement. The residence halls are conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Library, Student Union and Recreation Center. Information on costs may be obtained by contacting University Housing, at (208) 447-1001. Space is limited.

An advance security deposit of $225, plus $25 processing fee is required to apply for housing. This deposit and processing fee must accompany the summer housing application. The application can be found on our Web site at http://housing.boisestate.edu

On-Campus Summer Conferences
Limited housing is available for individuals attending workshops, institutes and other special events held on campus. Room rental fees for groups vary, depending on the size and services rendered. Information on fees may be obtained by contacting University Housing Guest Services, (208)-447-1023. Special arrangements may be made for groups who require other services for an additional charge.

• Student Recreation Center

The Student Recreation Center serves as a hub for university life and as home to Campus Recreation. The Rec Center itself is an 86,000-sq.-ft. facility offering all the basics available in any fitness center in addition to massage services and an Athletic Training Clinic.

The benefits of a healthy active lifestyle are immeasurable, so come to the Student Recreation Center and see all we have to offer.

• Boise State Parking

Free parking is not available on the Boise State campus. Permits are required for use of the parking facilities. Summer permits will be available for purchase beginning May 5, 2008, and will be valid through August 24, 2008. All rules and regulations governing parking are in effect 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 12 months per year.

GENERAL PERMITS - $26 per permit (Credit Programs) $43 per permit (Non-Credit Programs)

RESERVED PERMITS - $60 per permit (Credit Programs) $77 per permit (Non-Credit Programs)

GENERAL PERMITS FOR SHORT-TERM (5 days or less) WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS - $7 per car/per day to a maximum price of $34 per workshop or seminar. Parking allowed in General Permit areas only.

MOTORCYCLE DECALS - $21 (Credit Programs)/$34 (Non-Credit) per motorcycle (must park in motorcycle areas only).

ACCESSIBLE (Handicapped) PERMITS - $26 (Credit Programs)/$43 (Non-Credit) per permit.

Other options for parking on campus are: park in a metered space and pay the meter; park in the Administration visitor lot or the Parking Garage and pay the posted hourly rates, or purchase a one-day parking permit for $7.
