David Saunders

Dr. David Saunders is a Professor in the Department of Music, College of Arts and Sciences at Boise State University. He joined the Boise State faculty in 1996 and has served as Arts and Sciences faculty senator since 2000. He previously was a member of the faculty at Cleveland State University and the State University of New York at Albany. Dr. Saunders is coordinator of music theory, and in addition to teaching classes in that area and in his studio, he is an active performing musician regionally and across the country. He is conductor of the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony, the honor orchestra for the best young musicians in our region, and performs regularly with the BSU Faculty Brass Quintet and the BSU Faculty Woodwind Quintet.

Professor Saunders earned his Doctorate at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1993. He holds a Master’s degree from the Yale School of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from the St. Louis Conservatory of Music. His fields of study have included music history, music theory, and the performance of orchestral and chamber music as a hornist and conductor.
