Heather Rae (Cherokee)will be previewing her work in progress film Family: The First Circle. As Director of the Native American Program for the Sundance Institute from 1995 to 2001, nurtured the work of more than fifty emerging Native American screenwriters and filmmakers. She has also worked to develop the field of Native filmmaking through her work with Akatubi Entertainment's Film and Music Program on reservations throughout the West. In 2005 she premiered Trudell , which she directed, at the Sundance Film Festival. She recently won a prestigious award from the Sundance Film Institute for Producing the film Frozen River which was also acquired by Sony Pictures. Heather also teaches Film Studies here at BSU and owns the film production company Iron Circle Pictures. She also chairs the regional True West Cinema Festival.

Randy Redroad
 
 
         
Randy Redroad directed the films, The Doe Boy, 133 Skyway, Moccasin Flats, and First Circle. The Doe Boy received 14 awards from various film festivals. On the Native Networks website he talks about how he learned filmmaking, what drove his ideas for The Doe Boy, and his creative process for both filmmaking and being a musician.

Larry Blackhorse Lowe directed produced and wrote a number of films, including Shush and Hey Indian, which will be shown at our conference. He wrote, directed and edited the feature film5th World, which has been screened widely at festivals in both the US and Canada. He co-produced the film Ibid, which just had it's premiere at the south by southwest festival in Texas.
