Wellness Works Peer Education Internship

DUTIES/JOB DESCRIPTION: Peer Educators are valued members of the university community and provide essential outreach services for students, campus groups, classes and organizations on a variety of health related topics. They receive relevant training to develop and implement programs designed to improve campus well-being. Research has demonstrated the effectiveness of students working with students, and our Peer Educators have an immediate understanding of the social and academic pressures Boise State University students face.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be at least of junior standing or a graduate student. Wellness Services is looking for Peer Educators that are enthusiastic team players that possess strong organization and communication skills. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications is strongly desired. Applicants must be willing to commit to working 5-7 hours per week for the entire school year.

BENEFITS: Each Peer Educator will receive up to 4 credits (2 credits per semester) and $8.00 per hour. This is a great opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to receive direct experience in the field of health promotion right here at Boise State while earning credit towards graduation!

TIME and TRAINING: Peer Educators commit to working 5-7 hours per week for the entire school year. Peer Educators will receive up to 4 credits (2 credits a semester) for internship and $8 per hour. Peer Educators will be required to attend 1 4-hour training session during the first week of the Fall semester. Individual supervision of 1/2 hour each week is also provided to help tailor the work to the specific needs of the project each intern facilitates. Internship hours are to be carried out during the workday Monday through Friday, with the potential for some evening and/or weekend hours depending on need.
