Internship Opportunities
Wellness Services Peer Education Internship
The Wellness Services Peer Education Internship requires that interns plan, coordinate, market, implement and evaluate a health promotion outreach event on campus. Some example topics for outreach events are tobacco cessation, sexual health, fitness and nutrition, body image and responsible drinking.
Benefits
There are four internship positions available for each academic semester, and each intern will receive up to an $1200 stipend and 3 credits.
The internship is open to all majors and provides a great opportunity for students to be part of a dynamic team, make campus connections and gain experience that better qualifies them for jobs and graduate school.
Time and Training
The time involves 8-10 hours per week or 150 hours per semester, for 3 credits. Individual supervision of 1/2 hour each week is also provided to help tailor the work to the specific needs of the project each Peer Educator facilitates.
Application Process
Students interested in becoming a Peer Educator need to fill out an application, write a letter of intent, provide references and schedule an interview. One of the references should be a faculty member familiar with the student’s work. The interview will be approximately 1/2 hour with the supervisor of the Program. Students will be contacted within two weeks of interviewing regarding selection for the Program. Those students who are selected will be provided with the needed registration materials.
