"But I remember it was about, I'd say about 1905, or '06, had an old guy drove in there and he drove one of the old Buicks, had straps from the top down now. And my dad worked on the road quite a bit. You could work out your poll tax by working on the road with a team and he said, 'Hey kid, do you know where your dad is?' I said, 'Yes.' 'Well,' he said, 'get in, I want to see him.' Boy, boy, boy I had to talk about then. That was the first automobile--I imagine that was 1905, probably '05 or '06. I took a ride in that car. I thought boy, that's a pretty good deal."
