French-Canadians who trapped Idaho beaver in 1818.

The Office of the City History uses the insights and methods of historical scholarship to inform citizens, promote heritage tourism, preserve civic identity, and clarify vital issues of public policy.Programs include publications, tours, workshops, oral history, a downtown lectures series, and the preservation of historical documents and artifacts.Founded in 2004 as a unit of the mayor's office, the office merged with the arts commission in become the Boise City Department of Arts and History.Boise State University staffs the office with interns and a competitive graduate fellowship. This web presentation features the work of the city historians during their four years in the mayor's office, 2004-2008.
