Lisa Brady
Lisa Brady earned a Ph.D. in history at the University of Kansas in May 2003. As an environmental historian, she studies the relationships between humans and nature and how their interactions have evolved over time and place. Her current research examines the ways in which nature and gender influenced the approaches to and outcomes of the American Civil War. She has presented at the national meetings of the American Historical Association and the American Society for Environmental History. Her article "Impact of Civil War" is published in the Environmental Atlas of the United States and Canada, edited by Char Miller. Brady is primarily a historian of the American environmental experience, but her work at the University of Sydney, Australia, where she earned an M.A. in Australian environmental history, and her interest in the global connections and implications of environmental issues will undoubtedly figure into her future projects!
Brady teaches courses in general US history through 1877 and in American and global Environmental history. She has also developed courses on gender and environment, war and environment, and the American Civil War.
