Honors College

Scholarships

The Honors College offers a variety of competitive, merit-based scholarships. Incoming freshman and transfer students must submit an Honors College Application before February 15 to be considered for an honors scholarship. Continuing Boise State students who are already enrolled in the Honors College will automatically be considered for honors scholarships.

How to Apply for Brown Honor Scholorship

Attach a 500-word essay on one of the following topics to your Honors College Application Form:

  1. Describe a significant event in your life and explain how it changed your way of thinking.
  2. Who, among persons born during the last 100 years, is your hero? Why?

Submit your completed honors application form and essay to:

Remember that you must also apply for Undergraduate Admission to Boise State by submitting a university application to the Admissions Office.

Brown Honors Scholarship

The Brown Honors Scholarship is Boise State's premier academic scholarship for incoming freshmen. It includes full tuition plus room and board in the honors residence hall for four consecutive years. Your scores on standardized tests (ACT or SAT), high school grade point average, class rank, and extracurricular activities are the most important factors in being selected as a Brown Scholar.

While the selection criteria and the amounts of these scholarships vary, they all are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Assistance based on financial need is awarded through the Boise State University Financial Aid Office.

In addition to academic scholarships, the Honors College offers two kinds of summer fellowships for students who wish to conduct independent research or participate in foreign study programs between the spring and fall semesters.
