Craig Hemmens is the Director of the Honors College and a professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at Boise State University, where he has taught since 1996. He holds a J.D. from North Carolina Central University School of Law and a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. He has previously served as Academic Director of the Paralegal Studies Program and Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.

Professor Hemmens has published twelve books and more than one hundred articles on a variety of criminal justice-related topics. His primary research interests are criminal law and procedure and corrections. He has served as the editor of the Journal of Criminal Justice Education. His publications have appeared in Justice Quarterly, the Journal of Criminal Justice, Crime and Delinquency, the Criminal Law Bulletin, and the Prison Journal.

Rhonda Hughes serves as an assistant to the director and office manager for the Honors College. A long time resident of Idaho, she has worked as a broker in securities and for the Idaho Department of Commerce before starting her career at Boise State University in 1995 in the College of Social Sciences and Public Affairs. Later, Rhonda gained a broad knowledge of the university while working in the Student Services Office and Orientation Office. She has served on the Women's Center Board, Affirmative Action Committee, and as a representative for the Association of Classified Staff.

Rhonda is enthusiastic about helping students find their place in the academic and campus community. Her door is always open to assist the students in the Honors College.

In her spare time she likes to make quilts for family and friends and belongs to the Boise State based quilt group Piece Works! She loves to travel, read, and enjoys the outdoors-camping, fishing, or floating the river.

Chris Hyer serves as the Activities Coordinator for the Honors College. He recently moved to Boise in 2005 and served as a Resident Director for University Housing before joining the Honors College in December of 2006. Originally from Rhode Island, Chris has found a new love in Boise. The mountains, clean air, Basque influence, friendly people and numerous outdoor activities have led Chris to call Boise home.

Chris’ passions include working with students, playing various sports such as volleyball, basketball, and racquetball. Chris also enjoys snowboarding, floating the river, good movies, and a good book. Chris takes pride in connecting with students, so stop on by, sit for a while, as he takes pride in his door always being open for students.
