Connecting to the Internet
Step 1: Ensure you have a CAT5 network cable and a network card in your computer. BroncoTec in the Student Union Building sells both network cards and CAT5 cables. Once you have the required hardware, plug the CAT5 cable into the wall jack and into the network port on the computer similar to the port on Figure 1. NOTE: Some rooms have more then one port, but only one works. Plug into each port for at least 2 minutes, try to get to the Internet, and try the next port if it does not work.

Right click on Local Area Connection and click Properties

6. Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), then Properties
7. Ensure your screen looks like the one below, click OK, and close all other windows. Restart the computer and try getting onto the Internet again.

Step 3: If your Internet is still not working please contact your front desk and setup an appointment with University Housing Computer Services.
Other Important Notes About BSU’s Internet Connection :
- According to BSU security policy wireless routers will NOT work on the BSU network.
- You are required to run the Cisco Clean Access client to get on the BSU network. To get the Cisco Clean Access client, plug your computer into the network and open a web browser. You will be prompted for your BroncoWeb username and password and be directed to the download page for the Cisco Clean Access client.
- You are required to have up to date antivirus software on your computer. If your computer is infected with viruses, you will be disconnected until University Housing technicians can clean the virus off your computer. If you do not have antivirus software, please setup an appointment with your front desk to have it installed by University Housing’s technicians.
- University Square rooms have four plugs in each room and only one is active; the active port should have a colored dot next to it. Also, the port in the living room is for phone only.
- Keiser and Taylor hall have two plugs in each room, one is phone and one is Internet. If one plug does not work, try the one next to it before setting up an appointment.
