How to connect to the Internet using Windows 7
Wired
Ensure you have a CAT5 network cable and a network card in your computer. BroncoTec in the Student Union Building sells both network cards and CAT5 cables. Once you have the required hardware, plug the CAT5 cable into the wall jack and into the network port on the computer.
NOTE: If you have multiple ports as seen below, you may need to try both to find the “active” port! If you are in University Suites or Square, you will have 2 sets of these ports in each bedroom. 1 set of ports will be on one wall and 1 set on another.

If the computer has successfully reached the internet, the Network icon in the lower right hand corner will appear as the “Good connection” seen below.

If you see the “Failed connection” seen above, skip to the Network Troubleshooting.
Open Internet Explorer or your favorite web browser. The page will redirect to a SafeConnect authentication page, where you will be prompted to login using your BrowcoWeb username and password. You will then be required to install the SafeConnect client.
Wireless
*Personal wireless routers will not work in any Boise State University Housing building
*Wireless is only available in the lobbies in the residence halls. Wireless is not available in the apartments, except University Village.

- This will show all networks, to only show only wireless networks click the drop down menu and select “Wireless”.
- Select the Wireless network titled “RES” (You may have to click “Connect Anyway”
- If the computer has successfully reached the internet, an icon similar to the one below will display in the lower right corner.
