  General Information About Boise

The Intensive English Program is held on the campus of Boise State University, which is located in Boise, Idaho's capital city.

Boise State University has a diverse population of 18,447 students (young adults as well as working professionals) including international students from over 61 different countries. In addition to the Intensive English Program, Boise State offers associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees in its seven colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business and Economics, Engineering, Education, Health Sciences, Social Sciences and Public Affairs, and Applied Technology.

The Boise River runs through the campus, offering year-round beauty. The Boise Greenbelt connects the university to 40 kilometers of paths and six city parks, where you will enjoy bicycling, jogging, and rollerblading.

Boise's weather
has four seasons with great outdoor activities and more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Spring brings occasional showers and mild, comfortable temperatures. Summer is hot and dry, while fall has warm days and cool evenings. Winter offers cold snowy days and skiing and snowboarding at Bogus Basin, located only 26 kilometers (16 miles) from Boise. Outdoor sports throughout the year range from hiking, fishing and river sports to golf, tennis, and mountain biking.

In the Boise area you can attend the ballet, symphony, opera, folk concerts, plays, recitals, rock concerts, art galleries, movie theaters, clubs, western summer rodeos, and events sponsored by groups of international students. Boise has over 60 ethnic restaurants and an array of shopping, from international stores to local artisans. Local festivals celebrate Basque, Greek, Mexican, German and Celtic culture. In a day's drive you can visit west coast cities as well as Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.

Best of all, Boise offers you a safe and beautiful environment in which to study and enjoy your everyday life.
