GOT BYTES?
May Issue of BroncoBytes Available Now
The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce the May issue of BroncoBytes, the newsletter of the OIT Help Desk. This month’s issue contains articles on how we’re becoming a University Help Desk of Distinction to support the University’s mission. Also discussed are postal service rate increases that took effect this week, and how the shape of a mailed item now affects an item’s cost; OIT’s Mail Services department can assist you with all of your questions and needs. Smarter network printing is now available with iPrint, the new printing system OIT is rolling out to campus. Learn how simple it is to select a printer from a Web page to install on your computer. Also, OIT training classes are taking a hiatus for the summer; tell us what we can do to improve our class offerings and meet your training needs. BroncoBytes is always available via the Help Desk’s Web site at this address.

Student Union
Keeping it Green in the Student Union
Six years ago, the Student Union started turning greener. And just like orange and blue, green is a very important color. As sustainability in the SUB continues to increase, operating costs and consumerism decreases, but best of all, the environment benefits, becoming a safer, healthier place for everyone. It’s a chain reaction.
In 2000, for example, water-cooled food service refrigerators were replaced with an air-cooled system, saving thousands of gallons of water annually. In 2003, the Green Cleaning Program was initiated, replacing more than 40 cleaning chemicals with friendlier products. Motion-activated paper towel dispensers have also made a difference in reducing paper waste, as well as paper costs.
Phonathon exceeds goal
Thanks to the generous support of Boise State alumni and friends, this year’s Phonathon efforts have been the most successful ever. Over the fall and spring semesters, a total of $270,674 was pledged in support of the university,
A total of 1,618 alumni and friends helped the spring Phonathon exceed its goal of $100,000 by pledging $106,374. This brings the total pledged for the fiscal year well ahead of last year’s $242,779.
The Boise State University Foundation would like to thank everyone who pledged and extend a special thank you to those individuals who chose to make a second pledge in support of Boise State during the spring Phonathon.
