New Video Clip Features Baker, Center for Health Policy
Ed Baker, director of the Center for Health Policy, is featured in a new segment of the “Research Matters” video series. To view the clip, please click the “Research Matters” button on the Boise State home page or go to the Division of Research home page.
The video segment highlights recent and current projects the center has undertaken to address issues related to health care in Idaho.

13 Outstanding Graduates Honored in Year-End Recognition
The
College of Business and Economics honored outstanding graduates at a dinner on
May 6 at the Red Lion Hotel. Thirteen graduates, representing their respective
majors, were awarded a certificate by a faculty member selected by the student.
More than 80 faculty, parents and guests were in attendance.
The honored students included: Christine Lemen, accountancy; Isaac Barrett, computer information systems; Michael Gibbons, economics; Aaron Dreiling, entrepreneurial management; Nicholas Schlekeway, general business management; Cory Sandford, human resource management; Michael Johnston, M.S. accountancy; Dan Coleman, M.S. accountancy, taxation; Sarah Birchfield, international business; Robin Zimmerman, marketing; Christian Weaver, master of business administration; and Courtney Kirchner, operations management.
Diane Schooley-Pettis, interim COBE dean, shared the story of Randy Pausch, author of "The Last Lecture," with the graduates and challenged those in attendance to make the most of their own lives.

Faculty and Staff Receive Discount for Select ‘Saltimbanco’ Performances
Cirque
du Soleil will visit Boise for the first time with its performance
of “Saltimbanco.” Taco
Bell Arena is offering $10 off tickets for the performances at 7:30
p.m. May 21-23 and 3:30 p.m. May 23.
“Saltimbanco” borrows from theater, dance and music and combines spectacular costumes, lighting and make-up. The show explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and commonalities, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. “Saltimbanco” takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Sign Up for Summer Memberships; Salsa Class, New Travel Program Offered
Campus Rec is offering a summer salsa dance class and a new passport program to members.
- Summer Salsa Class: When it’s hot outside, come inside for some cool Latin dancing. This new class focuses on basic patterns, footwork and technique. Registration is $55 for Campus Rec members and $85 for non-members. The class runs from June 5-July 24, and will be held on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. The registration deadline is June 12. - NIRSA Health and Wellness Passport Program: Campus Rec is
partnering in the National Intramural-Recreation Sports Association
(NIRSA) Health and Wellness Passport program presented by Matrix and supported
by NIRSA Insurance. The program allows the following individuals access to the
recreational facilities at other participating institutions at no cost: faculty
and staff Campus Rec members and current Boise State NIRSA student members (for
more information about NIRSA and NIRSA membership please visit www.nirsa.org).
The Campus Rec staff will verify eligibility and then complete a simple online form to request a voucher on your behalf. The NIRSA National Center staff will then e-mail a voucher directly to you within two business days. The voucher is good for 30 days and will allow the individual entry to the recreational facilities of other NIRSA member institutions that have opted in. Each facility has the right to limit the use of their facilities by any individual to seven visits in a calendar year.

Nominations Accepted for Annual Distinguished Alumni Awards
The Alumni Association seeks nominations for the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards to be presented during Homecoming 2008. Nominees should be graduates of Boise State who have built records of outstanding achievement within their chosen professions and have a strong connection to the university.
