Lab Rules

This is a regulated facility for use by BSU students, faculty and staff only, and in addition to the following rules, lab users are expected to comply with the Information Technology Resource Use Policy of Boise State University. 

Intentional damage to or theft of lab supplies, equipment or furnishings will be dealt with by the Sheriff’s office. Violators will be arrested and prosecuted.

The viewing of pornographic or sexually oriented graphics on computers owned by the State of Idaho is illegal and is prohibited. Offenders will face disciplinary action, and will be permanently banned from the lab.

Lab management reserves the right to determine appropriate use of the facility and its equipment.

Users must show current BSU identification to lab staff upon request. Persons without current BSU ID will not be permitted in the lab.

No food or drink (including water) is allowed in the lab at any time. Food or drinks brought into the lab must be left on the table by the door or outside.

All users must sign the "Sign-In Log" for each session in the lab.

Installation of files on lab computers is prohibited. Hard drives will be erased on a weekly basis.

The copying of software is prohibited and usually illegal.

The lab does not distribute software, nor offer technical support for home computing.

Checking out documentation and audio/visual materials requires you to give us your BSU Student ID. It will be returned upon return of the checked out materials.

Users are fully responsible for any and all checked out materials. If it is lost, damaged, or destroyed, the user must pay for its replacement.

The telephone is for lab employees only (except in emergencies).

Professional business manners are required of everyone.

Disruptive individuals will be ejected from the lab by security or the Sheriff’s office.

Please keep the lab in a library-like atmosphere. Please keep voices down, and bring in no pets or radios without headphones. Children of lab users must be supervised.

All users must leave immediately at closing time.

No "Squatting" on lab computers. If you leave, please take your materials with you. Materials left more than 10 minutes may be picked up in the lost and found area.

Persons violating the above rules and regulations will face disciplinary action up to and including arrest and prosecution.
