Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

For Osher Members!

If you would like to get to know a few Osher members on a more informal basis, please consider joining a Special Interest Group. These groups are intentionally small and are facilitated by a member of the Institute. SIGs have included walking and hiking groups, writing groups, a current events study group, and a gardening group.

Please register for the session just as you would register for classes.

  • Yanke Courtyard Gardening SIG
Have you noticed the lovely garden in the courtyard this past year? It is thriving and has been a special delight to all who come to the Yanke facility for courses and for work alike. It has become a tranquil place to take a break and enjoy the scenery. The garden is maintained by Osher volunteers who contribute regularly for a few hours, sometimes working together as a group and sometimes in pairs. Come join this active group and make new friends while you help keep the courtyard beautiful.

If you have ideas for a Special Interest Group and/or would be willing to lead one, please contact Buddy Howell, our Volunteer Coordinator, at (208) 426-3718. As we receive requests for different groups we will post them in our monthly Osher newsletter.
