Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) strives to support the educational mission of Boise State University by helping to create an environment where civil discourse may occur free from discrimination, harassment, threats, or intimidation. OSRR works with students to resolve conflicts in a pro-active, productive manner by offering opportunities to resolve conflicts through the Student Mediation Program. In addition, OSRR works with students, faculty and staff in addressing inappropriate student behavior in conjunction with the procedures set forth within the Student Code of Conduct. OSRR works with faculty and staff who refer students for cheating, plagiarism, disruptive and/or threatening behavior.
The pursuit of higher learning through civil discourse, both in and out of the classroom, is encouraged and welcomed for all who attend the University. OSRR works to create an environment where the University's Statement of Shared Values is upheld by all members of the University community.
Goals of the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities include the following learning outcomes:
- To educate students about the core values of respect and civility by upholding the University’s Statement of Shared Values
- To promote individual insight & growth
- To support a safe, inclusive and affirming campus environment
- To teach skills of self control, responsible decision-making, compromise and ethical reasoning
- Holding students accountable for their actions and make them aware of behavioral consequences
- Assist students understanding their role and responsibility in the creation of an environment where learning and civil engagement can occur
