Alternative Conceptions of the Nature of Knowledge

A number of faculty at Boise State employ conceptions of the nature of knowledge which are not the conventional view learned by most students in high school and in many courses at the university. Holding these alternative views results in these faculty members taking at times significantly different points-of-view on the subject matter of their fields and teaching their courses in fundamentally different ways. Two examples of this can be seen in the syllabi for PHYS 100 Foundations of Physical Science by Dr. Dykstra and CM 304 "Perspectives of Inquiry" by Dr. McLuskie in the Communications Department.
