Electronic Artwork for PRINT
Consistent use of the Boise State University logo is important in projecting a coherent image of the university. The logo is designed to be used as one unit, not as separate letterforms or elements that can be manipulated individually. The type and symbol cannot be altered in any way. The logo must be used as a stand-alone design element. To preserve quality, the logo should always be reproduced from the following electronic files.

Always remember to maintain the original height and width proportions of the logos when resizing them. This is usually accomplished by holding down the shift key while dragging a corner of a logo to resize it. Holding the shift key will constrain the height and width and scale the logo proportionally. Never resize a logo by dragging the top, bottom, or side, as this will distort it.

Please do not try to open these electronic files unless you have the supporting applications. Place them in a graphics folder on your hard drive. Go to your insert, import, or place menu and select the logo from your graphics folder. Please give us a call at 426-4996 if you have questions.

EPS files
The eps (Encapsulated PostScript) format is the preferred format for using the Boise State logo since it is vector-based. The logos are scalable for both enlargement and reduction without loss of quality. Black and white, 1-color, 2-color, and CMYK versions are available in the eps format. The eps files can be opened with Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Photoshop or any other program supporting the Illustrator eps format.

TIF Files
Black and white versions of the Boise State University logo are available in TIF (Tagged Image Format) for Macintosh and Windows computers. Some page layout programs such as QuarkXPress, Adobe PageMaker and Adobe InDesign let you assign spot colors to placed grayscale TIFs. Color versions in the TIF format are available, however, when these color tifs are used in Microsoft Word and Publisher documents, they will print to office printers but are not suitable for offset printing since proper spot colors cannot be specified in TIF files.

Never enlarge the TIF versions of the logo. They will rapidly lose quality if enlarged. (Use the eps version if you need a larger size.) It is safe to reduce the TIF logos as needed.
