Take a videography workshop!
Department of Communication is offering four (4) 1-credit videography workshops.
Two of the workshops are focused on shooting video, two on editing that video.
You may enroll in one, two, three or all four workshops.
What will you shoot? The Games. Special Olympics International
has developed an exciting initiative to allow athletes’ family and
friends who are not able to attend the games to see their athlete compete. The
initiative was launched at the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games in
Shanghai China. The World Winter games in Idaho will be the second
foray into the effort to include families and friends from afar in the excitement
of the games. Students will shoot, edit and upload video to a website
from which families and friends will view competitions.
Previous training in videography is not required. All majors
are welcome. The main requirements are interest, willingness
to learn and the ability and desire to commit to the intense time requirement
of these workshops.
Because of the unique nature and
time frame of these workshops, we encourage you to review the workshop
schedule shown here and read all the information
presented on this page.

Each section has a specific day and time commitment. Click the class description of each particular section in BroncoWeb electronic registration for the specific times of that section. Ignore the times (12am-12am) listed in the time bracket of the electronic schedule.
Shooting workshops will run from 8am to 6pm each day. Editing
workshops will run from 4pm to midnight each day. You may enroll
in a Sun-Tues-Thurs workshop and/or a Mon-Wed-Fri workshop. In
addition, you must attend a training lab. There is one training
lab for shooting and one training lab for editing. Each lab is
offered at two different times. If you decide to take both a shoot
workshop and an edit workshop, you must attend a training lab for each. This
chart shows the time commitment for a person taking all four
workshops.
To find the time commitment for the workshop(s) you want to take, find
the Section Number/Class Number of the workshop in which you are interested
and highlight it. Remember, you may enroll in one, two,
three or all four workshops.

Review all the courses for which you have registered. Compare the days
and times in the workshop schedule above to the class days and times for
all of your other courses. For any course that meets on the same day and
time as one of the workshops you have chosen, print this form
and take it with you to initiate a discussion with the instructor of that
course. Discuss how he or she will view your absence from their class while
you are involved in the videography workshop.
Each instructor will decide how he or she will view the absence. The absence
may be excused or unexcused, depending on how each instructor must conduct
class. There may be no consequences for missing class and assignments or
there may be consequences. You should understand how missing a class or
assignment will affect your grade.
This form is intended as a tool to help you start a conversation with the
instructor of the course for which you would miss class. Use of the form
is OPTIONAL to each instructor. An instructor may choose to require you
to sign the form. Or they may choose not to use the form. The form is between
the student and instructor and does not need to be submitted to anyone
but the instructor, if they so choose.
If you have questions about the
workshops, please contact Jesse Cordtz at JesseCordtz@boisestate.edu.
