Summer Services

 

Albertsons Library

The Albertsons Library provides access to over 550,000 books, a vast array of journals, more than 160 databases, reference works, newspapers, and other sources for student research and learning. Ample study spaces for individuals and groups are available within the Library. Reference librarians are available within the Library and online to help students with their research.

The Library also serves as a student computer lab with over 90 computers available for student use.

You’ll need your Student Id Card to check out library books and materials.

The Web site library.boisestate.edu has links to many information resources, including the library catalog, databases, online journals, and reference sources. Distance education students can find information on using the Library to obtain materials to support their coursework. Most of the online resources are available for student access off campus—you’ll need your BroncoWeb username and password to use these online sources.

When you need a study break, a Starbucks is located near the front entrance of Albertsons Library.

Boise State Bookstore

You can purchase textbooks from the Boise State Bookstore, located in the Student Union Building or via the Internet at the boisestatebooks.com Web site.

The SUB

The SUB, located at 1700 University Drive, is open during the summer. In addition to containing numerous lounges and dining areas, the SUB houses an art gallery, the Cultural Center, the Boise State Bookstore, offices for ASBSU student government, the Student Programs Board, Volunteer Services Board, and over 200 student organizations.

The SUB also provides a comprehensive conference services operation to the Boise State campus and the Boise community.
Additional SUB Services Include:

  • Games Center, offering bowling lanes, video game room, billiards, snooker tables and foozball.
  • Information Desk, the source for information concerning campus and community events, university facilities, university lost and found, computer laptop check out (students only), discount movie tickets and BUS schedules.
  • Campus ID (located next to the Information Desk).
  • Retail food service options.

Health, Wellness & Counseling Services

Summer students may seek medical services at the Health & Wellness Center, located at 2103 University Drive.

Summer hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Mon., Wed.–Fri. 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Tues.

Summer Childcare

The Boise State University Children’s Center, 1830 Beacon, offers childcare from May 19 to August 15 for infants through 5 years of age, on a limited space-available basis. Financial assistance is available.

The Center operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:30 pm.

Summer Student Housing

Summer Housing

Housing is only available currently to students enrolled in summer classes or those fulfilling an academic requirement. The residence halls are conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Library, Student Union and Recreation Center.

Information on costs may be obtained by contacting University Housing, at (208) 447-1001. Space is limited.

An advance security deposit of $225, plus $25 processing fee is required to apply for housing. This deposit and processing fee must accompany the summer housing application. The application can be found on the University Housing web site at housing.boisestate.edu

On Campus Summer Conferences

Limited housing is available for individuals attending workshops, institutes and other special events held on campus. Room rental fees for groups vary, depending on the size and services rendered.

Information on fees may be obtained by contacting University Housing Guest Services, (208)-447-1023. Special arrangements may be made for groups who require other services for an additional charge.

Student Recreation Center

The Student Recreation Center serves as a hub for university life and as home to Campus Recreation. The Rec Center itself is an 86,000-sq.-ft. facility offering all the basics available in any fitness center in addition to massage services and an Athletic Training Clinic.

  • In the summer, our Fitness Program offers 25 of our 55 regular semester drop-in group exercise classes. These are a great way to test out a new fitness routine in a fun and active group setting!
  • The Outdoor Program has the largest four-season equipment rental operation in Southwest Idaho. Surf our web site or stop by to see our complete inventory of whitewater rafts, kayaks, climbing gear, backpacks and much more. The Outdoor Program also manages one of the largest collegiate climbing gyms in the country!
  • Of course, what is Campus Recreation without an extensive Intramural and Club Sports programs to provide athletic competition for all skill levels? Be prepared for all the fun we have coming up this fall.
  • Beyond the doors of the Recreation Center, available facilities include a swimming pool, recreation field, and tennis courts.

Boise State Parking

Free parking is not available on the Boise State campus. Permits are required for use of the parking facilities.

Summer permits will be available for purchase beginning May 3, 2010, and will be valid through August 20, 2010.

All rules and regulations governing parking are in effect 24 hours per day, seven days a week, 12 months per year.
