Custom Writing Workshops for On-the-Job Training
Why should my organization spend time and money to improve the writing employees do on the job?
You're already spending time and money on workplace writing. The cost of an average business letter is estimated at more than ten dollars. At that price, a letter has to get the job done the first time through. If it doesn't, you've unnecessarily spent not only the first ten dollars, but also the money necessary to clear up any confusion that the letter may have caused. In short, poor writing costs your organization time and money, while tarnishing the professional image you seek to convey.
What's a Custom Writing Workshop?
Simply put, it's the best method for improving on-the-job writing. It's also the best use of your training dollar. Our custom workshops are developed from documents produced in your organizationdocuments that your employees read, write, and edit every day. By analyzing, discussing, and revising these documents, your employees acquire the tools they need to work more efficiently and productively. In addition, the hands-on, practical instruction makes clear the connection between good writing and your organization's ability to achieve its goals.
How do I put together a Custom Workshop?
First, we meet with youat no chargeto discuss your training needs and objectives. We then submit a proposal defining the training methods and schedule. If you accept our proposal, you supply sample documents from within your organization, and we use them to develop the workshop.
Are there other benefits from Custom Writing Workshops?
Training should provide employees with something more than skills development. Truly effective training boosts employee morale and self-esteem, renews commitment to the organization, and creates a sense of teamwork and community. In short, we believe that employees should return to their work with enhanced skills, but they should also return refreshed, invigorated, and eager to apply those new skills to the work they do.
How long does a Custom Workshop last? And how many employees can enroll?
To create the most effective learning environment, we recommend that class size be limited to 20 students and that each workshop run for at least 3 hours. We've found that the best results are achieved through a workshop lasting 15 to 20 hours, meeting in 3-hour sessions, with some form of follow-up correspondence between the instructor and the employees. Of course, this basic format can be modified to fit your schedule, your budget, and your organization's training needs.
