Roberto Bergersen is one of the top student-athletes to play for the men’s basketball team at Boise State University. As a senior during the 1998-99 season, Bergersen dominated the Big West Conference, earning the league’s Player of the Year award. He also earned first team all-district honors that season, and received his second straight (1998 and 1999) first team All-Big West Conference award. Bergersen scored a record 644 points during his senior year and finished the season averaging 22.2 points per game, the second highest points-per-game average in school history. He finished his three-year Bronco career averaging 17.3 points per game. Bergersen was an excellent shooter, making 80.8 percent of his free throws, and 48.7 percent of his field goal attempts, including 40.0 percent of his three-point attempts. He ended his Bronco career ranking in the top 10 of eight statistical categories. They included scoring (5th), field goals made (5th), field goals attempted (5th), free throw percentage (2nd), three-point field goals made (5th), three-point field goals attempted (5th), three-point field goal percentage (6th) and steals (6th). Bergersen also won a Big West record seven Player of the Week awards during his career. Following his collegiate career, Bergersen was drafted in the second round of the NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks. He is currently playing professional basketball in Europe.
