The mission of the Boise State MLK Human Rights Committee is to celebrate the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders. The MLK Human Rights Committee endures to provide the Boise State University campus with a series of advocacy, awareness, and educational activities for the Boise State community in an effort to promote civility and address the current needs of the community in accordance with the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The goals of the Martin Luther King Jr. / Human Rights Celebration Committee include providing BSU students, the community of Boise, and the State of Idaho with programs involving speakers, workshops, exhibits, and performances involving the academic, artistic, and experiential knowledge concerning the racist features of American society. The result will be, and has been, a more educated public in Idaho concerning issues of diversity and multiculturalism. However, the committee believes that education must be accompanied by social activism in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. vision. This has led to partnerships with campus and community human rights organizations in efforts to enhance racial tolerance in Idaho.

$22.00 Student Tickets - Rodney Carrington |
 |
Get ready to laugh Boise with the return of Rodney Carrington, live on Thursday, January 31st at 8:00pm. Rodney Carrington has built a cult following with his no-holds barred stand-up that includes comedy and music about the funny side of redneck lifestyles, women at bars and men acting like men.
Carrington gained massive exposure from his appearances on syndicated morning radio shows like “Bob and Tom” and “John Boy and Billy”. His often hilarious crude songs like “Don’t Look Now”, “Little Things”, and “Fred” have kept his fans new and old coming back for more. His latest album, “King of the Mountains”, is Rodney's first album of new material in more than four years. “It's the best material I've done in a long time” says Rodney. “It moves at a fast pace. It's funny. That's not a guess; that's based on the feedback I've gotten from audiences.”
A $22.00* Boise State University Student ticket is available in select seating and is available at any Boise State University ticket outlet, limit 2 tickets per ID.

Electronics Recycling |
 |
The Volunteer Services Board (VSB) of Boise State University has teamed with Project KOPEG to participate in a used electronics recycling fundraiser to benefit the Spring Break Alternative (SBA) program. This year, SBA participants must raise a total of $20,000. They will be spending spring break in Honduras installing water purification stations to combat the spread of waterborne diseases. These diseases affect thousands of Honduran children every year.
We will be collecting used cell phones, mp3 players, digital cameras, printer ink cartridges, toner cartridges, and iPods (power cords and accessories included). Your donations will be recycled or refurbished in accordance with EPA regulations. Depending on the condition of the electronics, VSB will receive roughly $3 per item.
If you have any of these items to donate, we would greatly appreciate your participation. Please drop off your electronics at any of the various boxes around campus (COBE, library, SUB, Ed/Nursing, MP) or to the VSB office in the Cultural Center of the Student Union Building.
If you have questions, please contact Trevor Jack by e-mail at vsbdirector@boisestate.edu or by phone at (208) 284-7398.
