DEADLINE to Waive Student Health Insurance

Monday, February 2, 2009 is the last day to waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).

As required by the Idaho State Board of Education, full fee paying students enrolled in 8 or more credits, all intercollegiate athletes, and all international students must be enrolled in a medical insurance plan. Boise State University will automatically enroll each student in SHIP and add the insurance premium to their financial account once they have registered for 8 or more credits each semester. Students who provide proof of continuous enrollment in an alternative US-based health insurance plan with comparable benefits are able to waive out of their SHIP coverage.

Students eligible to waive out of SHIP must file their waiver on-line by logging on to BroncoWeb. Upon completion of the waiver process, each student should print a copy of the receipt for his or her records. The waiver must be filed each fall and spring term. If you need any assistance or have questions regarding the waiver process, please contact the SHIP office before the waiver deadline at (208) 426-2158.
