Boise State University Gives Notice
of 10-Year Accreditation Reevaluation

Boise State University is proud to be accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the highest level of accreditation achievable. All colleges and universities accredited by the NWCCU undergo comprehensive review of that accreditation every 10 years. The most recent reaffirmation of accredited status was completed in 1999.

Boise State is currently undergoing the required comprehensive review process. An institutional self-study is being prepared and will be posted on the Boise State Web site by September 1, 2009. An NWCCU evaluation committee will review the self-study and will conduct an on-site visit of the Boise State University campus October 12-14, 2009.

Members of the public are invited to participate in the reaccreditation of Boise State. Send comments no later than September 11, 2009, directly to:
NWCCU
8060 165th Ave. N.E., Suite 100
Redmond, WA 98052

All signed comments are forwarded, as received, to Boise State, the evaluation committee and the Commission. Comments will be considered with regard to Boise State’s qualification for accreditation.

Regional accreditation of postsecondary institutions is a voluntary, non-governmental, self-regulatory process of quality assurance and institutional improvement, and serves to recognize higher education institutions for performance, integrity and quality to merit the confidence of the educational community and public. The NWCCU is an independent, non-profit membership organization and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation as the regional authority on educational quality and institutional effectiveness of higher education institutions in the seven-state Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. It establishes accreditation criteria and evaluation procedures by which institutions are reviewed.

More information about public notification and third-party comments is available on the Commission’s Web site (www.nwccu.org under Operational Policy A-5) or by calling the Commission at (425) 558-4224.

Transportation and Parking

LOT CLOSURES ANNOUNCED
The West Stadium lot, portions of Bronco Circle, Engineering and Tech lot, Business Building lot located off of Cesar Chavez Lane and Science Drive will be closed for resurfacing from June 24-July 1. These repairs are essential to maintain the lots. Transportation and Parking staff will be working to prepare the lots prior to the scheduled dates and may block off sections to ensure safety.

For everyone’s safety, all traffic — including vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle and skateboard — will be prohibited in the designated maintenance areas. Designated maintenance areas are clearly marked by barricades, flagging and signage. Your patience and cooperation in walking around the designated area to get to your destination are appreciated.

Alternative parking is available in the East Stadium lot, Denver lot and the general area of the Manitou lot. Guest and visitor parking for the Bronco Shop, box offices and Bronco tours will be made available in the general area of the East Stadium lot.

CLOSURE OF UNIVERSITY & LINCOLN INTERSECTION
Due to a break in a main water line located under the intersection of University Drive and Lincoln Avenue on Friday evening, additional repairs to the intersection and portions of University Drive are planned for later this week. Please follow the detour signs and do not enter the construction area. Parking lots will not be restricted or closed. Drivers may need to use alternative routes to reach their destination.
