Women Making History Writers!

Boise State Women's Center is celebrating the tenth anniversary of it's Women Making Herstory publication!

Since 2001, the Boise State University Women's Center has honored local "Women Making History": ordinary women leading extraordinary lives. This publication has become a tradition in our Women's History Month celebration.

Often the word "history" connotes images and thoughts of the past, but history is what we do every day. We hope to recognize women who have been influential in our community and to educate you about their work, programs, concerns, and successes. Most importantly, we hope to inspire each person who reads this publication to become involved and to make their own impact--make their own herstory.

We are now calling for qualified writers looking to be a part of this amazing moment in history! If you are a writer who is looking to be published, needs internship credit and/or wants to be a part of the community's commitment to honoring local women, please send a writing sample (500 words) to jamielange@boisestate.edu or call the Women's Center @ (208) 426-4259.

Returning Women's Mentor Program

A growing number of women at Boise State University are coming back to school after a formal break in their education. Sometimes these women are referred to as "nontraditional Students," but there is nothing nontraditional about their growing numbers and abilities to succeed. Recognizing that this is a vital time of transition, the Women's Center created the Returning Women's Mentoring Program to provide these students with additional resources and support services.

The primary purpose of the Mentor Program is to provide support and information to new women students returning to college after an interruption in their formal education. Mentors are valuable campus leaders who can help create a welcoming environment for new students in efforts to ease their transition and increase the likelihood of retaining them.

Please come by the Women's Center for applications (both mentors and mentees)and additional information regarding the program or call Jamie Lange @ (208) 426-5390 or e-mail jamielange@boisestate.edu

Get connected, find resources, make friends, ensure success!
