Statement of Principles
Educause is the organization for computing in higher education. It recently issued a statement of values that includes a statement on openness. The Web Services group subscribes to these principles, reproduced here. For a full statement, you may consult the Educause website.
Educause Statement
Educause values sharing, collaboration, and open access to knowledge and resources, and thus supports the development and adoption of technologies, applications, and approaches that foster oppenness. Examples include:
- Open standards and interoperability
- Open and community source software development
- Open access to research data
- Open scholarly communication
- Open access to, and open derivative use of, content
