Campus Web Group meeting
- Date: 4 September 2007
- Time: 11am to noon
- Place: Hatch C
- Topics: Google Apps for Education, Best Practices, Zotero
Tool Tip
Google Apps is a collection of tools you can get to if you have a Google (gmail) account. The range of services is very broad. Of particular interest are:
- iGoogle (personalized home page)
- Google Docs (spreadsheets and word processing online)
- Gmail (email done right)
- Google Calendar (supports multiple and group calendars)
- Groups (forums)
- Page Creator (a reasonable web page editor)
And, as they say, much much more. Among the "more" is Google Analytics, which Jeremy Speer demonstrated.
Information and Discussion: Best Practices
Who says these are Best Practices? A quick tour of the site, followed by Q&A. We didn't actually talk much about this, but Skip solicited comments from the group.

More Tools: Zotero
An outstanding tool for bibliographies. Skip showed off some of its cooler features, including the ability to add a full citation with a single click and even entire book lists with a single click. Zotero was written by librarians, so it has support for all the major bibliographic formats and can import and export in many of them.
What is your biggest challenge?
Skip asked this question to the group. We talked about various aspects of this question.
Also brought up: what about sites that are moving off campus? Skip tabled this but agreed to take it up at a later meeting.
Finally, don't forget to join the online discussion. The link is at this website.
