LAMP Move
We talked more about the LAMP move.
Skip told the group that the Assessment is now finished and a project proposal for actual implementation has been submitted to the appropriate review committees. While we await a decision, Skip is going to go ahead and start meeting with individual departments to begin the move planning. He gave some specific questions for site owners to consider; namely,
- Where are you in the process?
- Have you done the cleanup work? If not, why not?
- What challenges are you facing?
- Do you have a preferred move date? Are there times of the year that are not good for your department?
- Can you identify any areas where you need help from IT?
- Can you estimate about how much time the move will take you? Be sure to include time to test the site to make sure it's fully functional on the new platform. The time estimate should include both number of hours and number of workdays. That is, for one department, the move might take ten hours and could be done over two days; but for another department, the move might take ten hours but could only be done over the course of two weeks.
Some individual questions came up during the course of discussion. There were few people in attendance. All I can say here is that if you want to ensure a smooth transition for your department, you really need to make sure you attend the next few meetings.
Skip will set a schedule of CWG meetings for Spring / Summer 2009 in the next week or two, and that schedule will be posted here in the Community site.
If you have questions or concerns meanwhile, one of the best places to raise them is in the Discussion Forum.
