Boise State has launched a phased implementation of the new Assessment of Faculty Teaching Policy (Policy 4750) to ensure that teaching is evaluated fairly, consistently, and through multiple forms of evidence. Their work focuses on helping departments adapt the policy in ways that fit their disciplines, with tools and examples that make implementation practical, transparent, and affirming of excellent teaching.
Two Provost Fellows—Dr. Jenn Mallette (Writing Studies) and Dr. Shawn Simonson (Kinesiology)—are leading this first phase in collaboration with the Office of the Provost, the Center for Teaching and Learning, eCampus, and pilot departments across campus. Their work emphasizes flexibility, transparency, and recognition of teaching excellence, providing departments with tools and examples to make implementation manageable and rewarding.
This page serves as a central hub for updates, resources, and examples developed through this multi-year implementation.
Timeline at a Glance
2025–26: Pilot and resource development with select departments.
2026–27: Expansion and refinement across colleges, guided by pilot feedback.
2027–28: Full integration of unit frameworks and ongoing support.
Throughout all phases, the Provost Fellows and the Office of the Provost will continue to provide guidance, gather feedback, and share examples from across campus to ensure implementation remains collaborative, flexible, and sustainable.
