Mike Mers ’92
Founder and CEO, Aspen Capital Management
College of Business and Economics
Mike Mers’ lengthy Boise State volunteer resume shows his commitment to advancing the financial wellbeing of his alma mater. As a board member and chair of the Boise State Foundation’s Investment Committee, the College of Business and Economics (COBE) graduate leads a group that guides the fiduciary responsibilities of the foundation.
Mers founded Aspen Capital Management in 2002, and the firm has since become one of Idaho’s largest and fastest-growing independent wealth management firms. Prior to that, he was a partner with the venture capital firms Highway 12 Ventures and BRM Capital. His career in venture capital began in Portland, Oregon, at Intel Capital, where he was a senior manager of strategic equity investments. As an International Rotary Scholar, Mers earned an MBA from Bristol University in England.
Before joining the Boise State Foundation, he held volunteer board positions with the COBE Advisory Board and the Boise State University Bronco Athletic Association. In addition, he is a member of the Women’s and Children’s Alliance Endowment Investment Committee and the Bishop Kelly High School President’s Advisory Council.
Mers and his wife Lori live in Boise and have two children. Their daughter Stacia is currently a first-year student at Boise State. The family enjoys college football, especially the Boise State Broncos. When they’re not in Albertsons Stadium cheering on the Broncos, they enjoy spending time in the mountains of Idaho on lakes and ski slopes.
