for more than 12 years
School of Public Service
Neither of Stacy Pearson’s parents went to college, but through the encouragement of her mother and a math teacher, she earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Idaho, and in 1995, she received her master’s in Public Administration from Boise State University. Her education journey kickstarted a long career working with public entities and public service. After graduation, she worked in Alaska, where she served as the state’s internal auditor and financial analyst, and sought to bring sewer access to rural areas. Working under the chancellor of the State of Oregon’s public college and university system, she conducted internal audits and managed reviews for eight public institutions of higher learning.
For more than 21 years, Pearson worked for Boise State, where she was the financial liaison for the National Economics University Sustainability Project in Hanoi, Vietnam. She rose to become the chief financial officer and vice president of finance and administration, defining herself as a leader by structuring bonds to pay off debt and finance facilities, including $300 million in capital projects, overseeing the fiscal management of the university, and transforming its footprint.
Pearson is currently the chief financial officer and vice president of finance and administration for Washington State University. She has served on several boards including Idaho Public Television, the Downtown Boise Y Project Task Force, College Spark Nation, and the Pullman Moscow Regional Airport. She previously served as a commissioner for the Capital City Development Corporation and was a member of the Saint Alphonsus Health Board System. Pearson was named the Idaho Business Review’s Woman of the Year for 2013. She is a lifetime member of the Boise State Alumni Association and a member of the President’s Club.
