Tim Lowe has nearly a lifetime of connection to Boise State. He attended the Campus School from third to sixth grades, where College of Education students at the time helped with teaching curriculum and activities. 

This early engagement may have influenced his future career: Today, he is the principal at William Howard Taft Elementary School in the Boise School District where 98% of Taft Elementary students are low-income, and approximately 30% are English Language Learners — most from refugee families from 21 countries and speak 20 different home languages. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, a master’s degree in Instructional & Performance Technology from Boise State, and an Ed Specialist degree from the University of Idaho. 

Lowe also served in the Idaho Air National Guard, holding various positions for 20 years, and retired as a Major maintaining aircrafts at Gowen Field. As a teacher and administrator in Boise for 31 years, Lowe has held several positions on the Executive Board of the Idaho Association of School Administrators and was recognized as a National Distinguished Principal in 2019. 

He’s also served as a principal mentor and an adjunct professor in Boise State’s Educational Leadership program for 10 years. This role has helped guide several successful teachers, principals, department heads, and even superintendents across Idaho and Oregon. He married his high school sweetheart Monica, to whom he has been married for 33 years. They have two children, both of whom started their college education at Boise State.
