Caitlin Vasko studies political science and public relations. She’s passionate about public education and education policy. As a political organizer with the Idaho Education Association, she was able to work full-time advocating public education policy in the Idaho Statehouse. In her role, she overhauled the organization’s endorsement process, organized its largest and most successful lobby event to date, and assembled 13 teacher-focused committees to help draft legislation — the first time the organization has done so in several years. Caitlin’s work has already affected education in Idaho and opened the door to her future work in education policy. In the course of her work, Caitlin assisted in more than 75 candidate interviews and endorsements.
Her work within Boise State and the Honors College underscores her passion for advocacy. She has served in more than eight roles on campus, including positions as a research assistant and founder of a club for commuter students on campus. Caitlin is passionate about education, community, and finding solutions to problems. She hopes to pursue a juris doctorate and become a more effective advocate for public education. In recognition of these accomplishments, she has been named a Truman Scholarship finalist.
Caitlin is from Phoenix, Arizona.
