Biography

Leah Engle is a hardworking and passionate individual who seeks to make a difference in the lives of those around her. Through her studies and life experiences, she has developed a great passion for working with and for the global refugee population.

Engle’s desire to live life to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity has set her apart during her time at Boise State. She studied abroad in Australia, volunteered in a refugee camp in Greece and backpacked in Bali. On a local level, she joined two refugee agencies, Global Talent and TANTA, as a social media intern and website developer. Engle was also extremely involved at Boise State through the Honors College, the Living Learning Programs, intramural sports, research and more.

Throughout her rigorous educational journey, Engle worked hard to support herself and her education — even juggling four jobs at once to make ends meet. Over the years, she has worked as a parking assistant for the Department of Public Safety, a peer mentor for a University Foundations philosophy course, a community assistant for the Adventure Idaho Living Learning Program, an orientation leader, a hostess in Downtown Boise, a part-time nanny and a bartender for the nearby Marriott hotel.

Engle’s hard work and dedication have laid a strong foundation for her future goals. Upon graduation, she will spend two months in South America before moving to Germany in March 2027 to pursue her master’s degree. After spending two years in Germany, Engle intends to join the Peace Corps and provide humanitarian assistance to those who have been impacted by the ongoing refugee crisis.

Engle is from Phoenix, Arizona.
